Gyokuro, Yame (Best Grade) Japanese Green - TeaBar 2 oz.
This most exquisite of Japanese teas is handled with extreme care and skill. It is made from only the youngest first-flush leaves. Gyokuro tea bushes are covered with straw mats in early April to block direct sun as the tender leaves develop to ensure dark green leaves. This tea is slightly sweet and extremely flavorful. Very low temperatures should be used to make a good cup of Gyokuro. Our selection comes from the Yame region of southern Kyushu Island.

Sencha, Japanese Green - TeaBar 2 oz.
Sencha is widely available in Japan in many levels of quality and commonly found in homes. Our traditional Sencha is made of steamed green tea with tightly rolled needle-shaped leaves. Kukicha Supreme, Japanese Green - TeaBar 2 oz.
Kukicha, or "twig tea" is made with both the tender young leaves and stems of the tea plant. Leaf stems are accumulated during the sorting process for Sencha. The aroma of this tea is green and fresh and its infusion has a marvelously striking bright green color. This tea should be brewed at a low temperature to preserve these characteristics. Houjicha Supreme, Japanese Roasted Green - TeaBar 1 oz.
Houjicha is roasted Sencha or Bancha. After harvesting, the leaves are stored at room temperature for one to two years to enhance their flavor. Before flame roasting, our Houjicha Supreme undergoes a special drying process that removes excess moisture which ensures a brisk flavor when brewed. Near boiling water may be used to make a good cup of this tea. Houjicha is often drunk before bedtime in Japan and it makes a tasty cold tea.

Kocha, Japanese Black - TeaBar 2 oz.
Before World War II Japan produced black tea for export. It virtually disappeared from the late 1950's until recently. Our Kocha is withered for 52 hours which brings out a sweet flavor and beautifully delicate red color. Unlike other black teas, this selection contains some stems and an unusually high moisture content. Our Kocha is a black tea that green tea lovers will enjoy.
